Summer Momentum Builds Across Alaska FFA
As summer continues, Alaska FFA members and state officers remain actively engaged in leadership development, travel opportunities, and preparations for an exciting year ahead. From national conferences and interstate collaborations to planning future events, the summer months have provided valuable opportunities for growth, connection, and service.
Aleya Returns from Washington Leadership Conference
One of the highlights of the summer was the return of State Officer Aleya from the Washington Leadership Conference (WLC). Hosted annually by the National FFA Organization, WLC brings together members from across the country to strengthen their leadership skills, engage in service-focused learning, and build lasting connections with fellow FFA members.
Aleya's WLC Experience
Reflecting on her experience, Aleya described WLC as one of the most impactful leadership opportunities she has participated in.
"It was one of the best experiences I've had. It was amazing coming together with members from all over the country and meeting people who are just as passionate and hardworking as I am, all wanting to make a difference. Seeing the monuments and learning about the leaders who created change throughout history was truly inspiring. I had never seen anything like them before. I was also thankful to have incredible roommates and an amazing small group, the Stewart Capitals, led by the best small group leader, Patty P. Through our activities and discussions, we built strong friendships and meaningful connections. One of my favorite parts of the trip was everyone's reaction when I told them I was from Alaska. It was so much fun sharing what FFA and agriculture look like in our state while also learning about agriculture and FFA programs from across the country. I made great friends, learned valuable leadership skills, and discovered new ways I can make a positive impact in my community."
Experiences such as WLC help equip Alaska FFA members with the tools, confidence, and inspiration needed to serve their communities and lead with purpose.
Building Connections in Louisiana
This month, State Officers Liam Wade and Faith Stewart traveled to Louisiana to attend the Louisiana FFA State Convention. The opportunity allowed them to represent Alaska FFA while learning from another state association's leadership programs, traditions, and member experiences.
Opportunities like these strengthen relationships across state lines and provide valuable perspectives that can be brought back to benefit Alaska FFA members.
Liam Travels to Indianapolis
This month, State President Liam Wade had the opportunity to serve as a visiting state officer at the 97th Annual Indiana FFA State Convention alongside previous fellow Alaska State Officer Emily Faulkner.
The experience allowed Liam and Emily to connect with thousands of FFA members, share leadership experiences, and represent Alaska FFA on a national stage. Reflecting on the trip, Liam described the convention as both energizing and memorable.
"I had the opportunity this past month to be a visiting state officer to the 97th Annual Indiana State Convention. To say I felt at home is an understatement. It's hard to put into words how truly open and welcoming Indiana was to myself and Emily Faulkner. I arrived in Indiana after a week of training with the current Alaska State Officer Team and expected to feel tired, but the energy from Indiana's nearly 3,000 members and guests was electric and kept me going all week long. I had the opportunity to facilitate a workshop, and my personal favorite part of the entire week was being able to shoot a t-shirt cannon—which only at one point almost exploded. It's always a blessing to be in Indiana, whether for National Convention or this new experience at State Convention. No matter the event, I always walk away with new friendships and meaningful connections. I can't wait to see everyone again in Indianapolis this November."
Experiences like these highlight the value of connecting with FFA members from across the country. Through leadership opportunities, collaboration, and shared experiences, Alaskan State Officers continue to build relationships that strengthen both our state association and the broader FFA community.
Nebraska FFA Visits Fairbanks
Alaska FFA recently had the opportunity to welcome visitors from Nebraska FFA during their travels through Alaska. While in Fairbanks, members connected with Silent Springs and learned more about Alaska's unique agricultural industry, leadership opportunities, and way of life.
Visits like these create meaningful connections between state associations and provide members with a broader understanding of agriculture across diverse regions of the country. They also offer a valuable opportunity to showcase the innovation, resilience, and community spirit that define agriculture in Alaska.
State Officer Preparations Underway
Closer to home, preparations have begun for the State Officer team's upcoming chapter visits this fall. Planning and training sessions are helping officers develop new strategies for engaging with members, advisors, parents, alumni, and local communities.
These efforts ensure that chapter visits continue to provide meaningful experiences for members while strengthening connections throughout Alaska FFA.
Looking Ahead to Summit
Excitement continues to build as Summit approaches next month. State Officers are actively preparing for the event, including discussions with state legislators and reviewing potential delegate issues that may impact the future direction of the organization. These conversations help ensure that member voices are represented while providing officers with valuable experience in advocacy, communication, and organizational leadership.
Summit serves as a unique opportunity for State Officers from across the country to come together, exchange ideas, and learn from one another's experiences. Through workshops, networking opportunities, and leadership training, officers gain new perspectives and practical skills that strengthen their ability to serve their members throughout the year.
Beyond professional development, Summit allows State Officers to build lasting relationships with fellow leaders who share a passion for agricultural education and FFA. The knowledge, connections, and experiences gained at Summit help officers return better equipped to support their members, strengthen our associations, and continue developing as leaders both within FFA and beyond..
Theme Reveal Coming Soon!
Adding to the anticipation, the official Alaska FFA State Convention theme will be revealed at the beginning of July.
While details remain under wraps, members can expect a theme that reflects leadership, growth, and the future of Alaska FFA. The reveal will mark an exciting milestone as preparations continue for the upcoming convention season.
